Bret Michaels underwent heart surgery today, to close a hole in his heart. The Associated Press reported that Bret will undergo a procedure called cardiac catheterization. When physicians perform this procedure, they put a catheter into the vein, via the groin, and direct wires and a device to close the hole in the heart. Cameras assist the physicians, as the operate to repair the hole in the heart. The closure device is a permanent device that will stay inside Bret's heart forever, in order to help maintain normal blood flow.
